Sensei
Dan McGeough

ABOUT THIS STYLE:

This is traditional Japanese Karate. The style is Shito-Ryu also known as Genbu-Kai.  It is one of the four major styles of Japanese Karate.  Because of its wide spread popularity, it is taught at many of the colleges throughout the Southland such as: Saddleback College, Santa Ana College, Riverside College and Mount San Antonio College.  It is one of the oldest systems of Karate to come to Japan from Okinawa, then to the United States over 45 years ago.  It combines speed and precision together with dynamic tension and power.  Karate is a Japanese word meaning “empty” (kara) “hand” (te).  It is a system of attack and defense that uses all parts of the body and consists mostly of blocking, punching, shifting, kicking and striking.  This style combines the history, heritage, knowledge and tradition of the past with the needs of modern times. Training relieves stress and is interesting and purposeful.  Students improve their physical condition and learn practical self defense that can help them in their daily life.
